Paul & Susan

We live in BC.

We need to expand on our beautiful Canada.

We are thinking of retirement in PEI.

We had hoped to have an extended holiday this summer but a thing called covid happened.

Perhaps later this year we can give it a try.

We would need a place to stay for a while and a B&B sounds good, so you may hear from us later.

Any advice you could give is greatly appreciated.

Hi Paul and Susan from British Columbia.

Sorry to hear you weren't able to visit the island.

Covid certainly put a damper on many people’s plans and continues to do so although Prince Edward Island recently announced that starting August 8th, 2021, people from out of province who have been vaccinated can travel here without self isolating.

Unfortunately we did not open our Bed and Breakfast this year as it was too uncertain for too long what the government was to decide about travel. We likely will not open our BnB until next year.

We moved from Ontario four years ago which we thought was a long way to come but wow… B.C is over 4,000 kilometers away!

My husband and I visited B.C. in our younger years. It certainly has beautiful scenery but is too built up now for our liking.

There are quite a few people moving to Prince Edward Island from B.C. (many of whom are retirees such as yourselves).

We bought a little home on a lane in the country and low and behold after we moved here we found out that six of the families out of the seven on our lane are from "away". One is from Nova Scotia and the rest are from Ontario! - Small world.

If you come for a holiday this year I would suggest that you contact a PEI real estate agent to help you scout the area for homes of interest to get an idea of the different locations here and prices that might suit your budget.

Even though you are likely not ready to buy yet, a good agent will be more than willing to assist you.

I’d be happy to forward the contact information of the agent who helped us find our home and make the move to the island "without a glitch".

All the best with your future decisions,

Linda
