We are almost certain we are making the move to PEI.

(Squamish BC)

We are 6 months to a year off of retirement and are seriously thinking about moving to PEI.

The wide open space and no hustle and bustle so the quietness and serenity of a larger lot and peaceful nights.

We would welcome any advice as to where is best to reside on the island...we are into the outdoors and active hikers etc

Moving from Squamish, BC which has exploded and has become too much of a bedroom community for Vancouver BC.

If anyone could help us out as to where would be a nice place to live, we'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Hello Gene from Squamish, BC
by: Linda

Congratulations on your upcoming retirement, Gene.

My husband and I visited B.C. many moons ago.

I loved the ambience of the mountains in B.C. but I didn’t care for the misty rain. It made my hair frizzy!....lol

I actually lived in Surrey for about a year when I was a teenager.

Back then, Surrey was pretty rural. I can’t believe how much it has changed!

I understand your need to get away from an exploding community.

Roger and I felt that way living in Niagara Falls, Ontario. It just got more and more built up and too busy and hectic for us. We couldn’t wait to get out.

We found a little chalet in the country on two acres in Prince Edward Island. We now spend our days listening to the birds instead of the traffic!

There are many beautiful areas of Prince Edward Island for you to choose from.

There are only two major cities: Summerside and Charlottetown. The rest are smaller towns, villages, and resort communities.

Being into hiking like you are, you’ll find plenty of places to do that in Prince Edward Island. Check some of our trails at islandtrails.ca.

If you are looking for a home with a larger lot, most rural homes have at least an acre of property because of being on a well and septic system.

I would suggest you work with a professional realtor who will help you find the perfect location to purchase a home depending on your needs and budget.

Our agent worked with us for a couple of years via email while we were still living in Ontario. She was very helpful and patiently answered all my queries in regards to properties for sale that I found on the internet. If you’d like her contact information, I’d be happy to pass it along to you.

All the best with your move.

Linda
